Project Manager

Company Objectives
The overall objective of Kircher Design & Build is to provide a pleasant remodeling experience. The pleasant remodeling experience applies to both employees and clients. All decisions made and tasks performed within the organization will ultimately be designed to reach this objective. The project manager must be willing to support this objective.

Production Objectives

  • Collaborate with architects, designers, sub-contractors, project coordinator, and site workers included in the project

  • Perform final measurements of the project

  • Obtain permits from appropriate authorities

  • Determine needed resources such as manpower, equipment, and materials from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations

  • Choose sub-contractors and delegate their responsibilities

  • Oversee and ensure that the company policy for the production cycle is met

  • Schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met

  • Respond to any delays, emergencies, and problems that can arise

  • Report progress to client

  • Comply with safety and building codes

  • Facilitate orderly and safe job sites and shop environment

  • Assist in hiring lead carpenters and assistant lead carpenters

  • Supervise the work of laborers and provide guidance when needed

  • Assist in preparation and delivery of lead carpenter employee performance reviews

  • Manage the ordering process and assist the project coordinator in ordering products

  • Utilize the resources of the Project Coordinator, whose job is to order product, receive product, create scopes for sub-contractors, prepare job packets, provide communication pieces to clients regarding the schedule

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Prior experience as a project manager in any industry

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience

Required Skills

  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles

  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills

  • Ability to develop and collaborate with a team of employees

  • Experience using Microsoft Office and Google Docs/Sheets

  • Clean driving record

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Buildertrend software

  • Experience with Chief Architect computer-aided design software

  • Experience in the construction industry

Lead Carpenter

Role and Responsibilities
The primary goal of the Lead Carpenter is to deliver a great project, as sold to our clients. A Lead Carpenter has the closest relationship with our clients throughout the remodeling experience, and should instill confidence and assurance in them during the project.

Responsibilities to achieve this are as follows, but not limited to:

  • Good communication skills

  • Maintain a clean and productive job site

  • Manage and work well with others on and off-site

  • Maintain a schedule, keeping dates as rescheduled

  • Facilitate daily/weekly practices that will improve communications with clients

  • Perform all skills required for a home remodeling project

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Experience required in management of others, schedules, and customer service.  Higher education and/or training preferred. Must be able to perform most tasks required in the remodeling industry (i.e. electric, plumbing, tile, painting, drywall, and carpentry – rough and finish).

Preferred Skills
To be considered for a Lead Carpenter, the applicant will need to demonstrate the ability to be self-driven, able to perform finish carpentry. Basic computer skills are required (Google Docs., Microsoft Office, etc.)  Strong communication skills are a must.

Assistant Carpenter

Role and Responsibilities
The primary goal of the Assistant Carpenter is to support the role of the Lead Carpenter in delivering a great project, as sold to our clients.  An Assistant Carpenter has one of the most rewarding positions within our organization. He or she has the opportunity to learn the trades hands-on while assisting the Lead Carpenters to deliver consistent results in a timely manner for each of our clients.

Responsibilities to achieve this are as follows, but not limited to:

  • Good communication skills

  • Maintain a clean and productive job site

  • Dependability and punctuality

  • Aptitude for the trades

  • Strong work ethic

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Experience in the remodeling trades preferred. High school education or higher.  Must have an aptitude and willingness to learn.

Preferred Skills
To be considered for an Assistant Carpenter, the applicant will need to demonstrate the ability to be self-driven, able to take direction, and an aptitude for the remodeling trades. Basic computer skills are required (Google Docs, Microsoft Office, etc.).  Strong communication and math skills are a must.

Sales & Design

Role and Responsibilities
The primary goal of the Design Consultant is to execute contracts with clients for remodeling services.  

Responsibilities to achieve this are as follows, but not limited to: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Evaluate customer needs

  • Create project scope

  • Select products for remodeling projects

  • Prepare drawings and design work as needed

  • Strong work ethic

  • Desire to work flexible hours that are sometimes out of the normal 9-5 business day

  • Willingness to drive to and perform in-home consultations in both the Dayton and Cincinnati areas

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Experience in sales. Higher education and/or training preferred. Must have an aptitude and willingness to learn. 

Preferred Skills
To be considered for a Design Consultant, the applicant will need to demonstrate the ability to be self-driven, able to take direction, and the ability to take a project concept and turn it into a project contract. The candidate must be able to employ basic drafting skills with the ability to read and interpret architectural plans and basic floor plans. Basic computer skills are required (Google Docs, Microsoft Office, etc.). Strong communication and math skills are a must. 

Customer Relations Associate

Role and Responsibilities
The primary goal of the Customer Relations Associate is to improve our clients’ satisfaction with the remodeling experience.  

Responsibilities to achieve this are as follows, but not limited to: 

  • Assist clients in product selection

  • Enter new leads and schedule appointments for primary sales personnel

  • Reply to emails and provide communication to clients

  • Prepare contracts and paperwork for clients

  • Provide photos and information to the marketing firm so that social media and website can be maintained

  • Resource development, including finding new sub-contractors and employees

  • Visit job sites to establish and maintain client relationships

  • Assist the Project Manager in the product ordering process

  • Prepare job packets

  • Check-in products to ensure everything has arrived for the start of a new project

  • Plan company events

  • Train to learn how to use Buildertrend construction management software

  • Assist the Accounting Manager in the Buildertrend conversion of data

  • Train to learn how to quote a remodeling project

  • Train to learn how to sell a job and become familiar with the closing process
